THE BUSINESS OF ARTS AND CULTURE

The Business of Arts and Culture is a unique investment in the leaders of our nation's cultural organizations. Combining an intensive series of graduate-level, team-based education presented in cities around the country with follow-up facilitation and networking events, this program makes the highest quality executive education accessible to our field. With the support of twelve funders and partner agencies, The Business of Arts and Culture also includes an unprecedented level of support and subsidy for tuition, travel and Applied Learning services.

"Even with an MBA from Stanford University, I found the NAS seminar very valuable. The experience forces you and your team to confront issues and opportunities that you know are there but you don't make time to discuss."

Program Features

The Business of Arts and Culture program makes it easy to invest in your organization and your own professional development:

  • Low tuition fees

Compared to other university-level executive education programs, our tuition fees are incredibly low for two and three day seminars, only $225 to $350 per person depending on the team size.

  • Travel assistance

Travel assistance is a unique feature of the Business of Arts and Culture. For teams of three or more traveling to a seminar, we offer travel assistance of up to $600 per person to help cover the costs of travel and lodging. This subsidy is provided on a first-come first-served basis, so early registration is required to receive this assistance.

  • Convenient locations

Seminar presentations will be held in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Phoenix, and Seattle, all of which are convenient travel destinations and have exciting local cultural resources.

  • Small Class Sizes

We limit attendance to 60 seats per presentation to allow for more in-depth interaction with the faculty, and more time to network with your colleagues. These limits also mean that only a few organizations can participate in each presentation, so we encourage you to register early to ensure your entire team can attend.

"The seminars get us out of our daily routine, immerse us in important issues, and are a great tool for orienting new board members and staff to the work of our nonprofit."

    Bob Taylor, Executive Director
    Great Lakes Theater Festival

  • Applied Learning

The Business of Arts and Culture also offers an affordable way to get expert assistance in implementing change in your organization after a seminar. Our Applied Learning services help you make that difference. And with generous subsidies, we can offer this customized facilitation it at roughly half of what equivalent experts charge.
