PRESENTED APRIL 21, 2009

Does the current economic situation require arts and culture organizations to undertake dramatic reinvention? How do you determine the scope of change that is best for you and your specific circumstances? This online, small group discussion with David Owens, Professor of Management and Innovation at Vanderbilt University Owen School of Management, and Jim Rosenberg, Vice President at National Arts Strategies, explored participants' questions about innovation, the economy and options for their organizations.

Professor Owens kicked off the discussion by sharing a structured approach that participants used to evaluate your options. From “hunkering down” and waiting out the storm to complete reinvention, the most effective answer is different for every organization. Using Professor Owens’ opening remarks as a starting point, we spent our hour together talking through questions and further exploring how innovation fits into participants' strategies in a time of such intense economic change.
