Applying Finance

At any level in an organization, arts and culture professionals need to be able to effectively use financial resources.  Understanding financial strategy allows you to analyze your options and identify the best course of action for achieving your mission.

Faculty

How you will benefit

This session will help you develop the financial acumen to make decisions that both maximize mission achievement and strengthen your organization’s financial health.  By the end of this session, you will be able to:

  • Make better decisions based on improved understanding of financial implications and options
  • Anticipate and prepare for critical questions about the financial decisions you make
  • Use financial data to communicate effectively how you use your resources to meet your goals

What to expect

This one-day session will be led by business school professor Greg Reilly. Professor Reilly, an expert in strategy and finance, is known for his energetic teaching style. Participants can expect a rigorous, engaging classroom experience comparable to executive-level sessions at any of the country’s top business schools.

Who should attend

The Future Leadership program is designed to help the next wave of arts and culture professionals develop the skills they will need to excel in top management positions in the next five to seven years. This event is appropriate for:

  • Mid-career professionals, with 5-15 years of experience in the field interested in advancing to the next level of leadership
  • Professionals who have just come into a leadership role in a smaller organization and are interested in pursuing additional formalized training
  • Professionals working their way up through larger institutions interested in understanding the politics and paths of advancement and in expanding their professional networks
